Manie's Ridge (Part 2)
Manie's Ridge was the name I chose as a sort of beta name for my story. I knew what kind of books I liked, and I had an idea of what kind of story I wanted to tell, but I didn't know how to begin. I had nothing but a small idea of a girl on the run from her King, wielding a powerful weapon in the form of a magic artifact. So first I began creating the world. I decided on the themes: would it be a dark story? would it be more lighthearted and happy? What kind of characters would make up this story and how would their adventures collide?
I started with the history of my world, going back thousands of years to the day Talmorian's first set foot upon the rock that would become their island for the next few thousand years. I created a rich backstory for the characters who birthed this world, the kings, the queens, the men and women who lived on Talmoria. I created a backstory for the strange Crystals and made the legend of how they fell from space. I created factions and leaders and wars. I made a world within the world that would act as the backdrop for everything else that came after. And then, 1,000 years later, the story would truly begin...
