How it all began (Part 1)
This is my first blog post, so I think I should talk about The Crystal Keepers to begin. Well, here it goes...
The inspiration for writing the Crystal Keepers came when I was sitting at home one day looking for something to read on the internet. I wanted some new flashy novel with characters that shared a strong friendship, who would go on incredible adventures together and fight off evil beasts like Sam and Frodo in Lord of the RIngs, written by the Grandfather of all modern Fantasy J.R.R. Tolkien. I wanted something magical and exciting, like the enchanted preserves in the incredible series Fablehaven by Brandon Mull, whose magical talents at word spinning kept me entertained from the first page of the series until the last. I wanted the grit and realism and deadly consequences like in Game of Thrones, written by another of my all-time favorite authors, George R.R. Martin. I wanted adventure and mystery like in Percy Jackson and the Olympians, brought to life by Rick Riordan, a legend among authors for his incredible wit and storytelling prowess. And I wanted it to be good.
Sadly I never did find that book. It seemed like I was asking too much. Or maybe, I thought, maybe someone simply hadn't written that book yet...
So late one day, on a dark and stormy night, on February 19th, 2015 at precisely 7:27 P.M., I picked up a pen and began to write the very first page of a story I would name, Manie's Ridge.....
